At its meeting on January 31, 2012, the Horizon Board of Education passed a motion of consideration for grade discontinuance or school closure for Nokomis School.   

Please note that a motion of consideration is not a motion of school closure.  The Board will not decide on whether Nokomis School should continue to operate as it currently does until April 30, 2012 at the latest. In the meantime, community members will have the opportunity to provide the Board with input concerning the decision.   At an electors’ meeting being held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Nokomis, the Board will outline the processes community members can use to provide input to the Board.

In the interval, The Education Act, 1995 requires the School Division provide information concerning school bussing routes in the event that child(ren) no longer have the option of attending Nokomis School in the Fall of 2012.

Depending on location of residence, students will be bussed to an appropriate receiving school.
